Understanding the Value of ACT WorkKeys and the National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) for Wyoming Students
In 2006, ACT®
was introduced in Wyoming legislation as an alternative test to qualify for the Hathaway Provisional
Since then, the Wyoming Department of Education (WDE) has partnered with the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services (DWS) in order to ensure career readiness for all Wyoming students.
Students who take the WorkKeys assessments on the Wyoming WorkKeys state test day may be eligible to receive an ACT®
National Career Readiness Certificate®
), in addition to qualifying for a Hathaway
Provisional Opportunity Scholarship.
Presenters will discuss using WorkKeys information to help students explore career pathways as well as ways to increase readiness.
We will look at reporting and research to help students and educators better understand the value of WorkKeys and the WorkKeys NCRC.
Attendees will leave with better knowledge about how WorkKeys is important for all Wyoming students, regardless of their postsecondary path after high school.

Sean Corcoran is the Director, State Services for Wyoming.
Sean lives in Groton, Connecticut with his wife (Denise) and his 3 -year-old daughter (Emery).
Sean most recently worked as a Senior Account Executive with ACT providing support to schools and districts across the eastern part of the country.
Sean has worked at ACT since August of 2012.
Prior to coming to ACT, he worked as the Associate Director of Admissions at Mitchell College in Connecticut.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Management from Mitchell College.
Mary LeFebvre is a Principal Research Scientist for ACT Policy.
Her primary focus is researching national workforce policy issues, competency supply/demand analysis, program evaluation, and K-Career transitions.
Prior to joining ACT in 2010, Mary was the Workforce Research Manager at the Missouri Economic Research and Information Center within the Missouri Department of Economic Development where she provided occupational research, analysis of talent development systems, policy evaluation, and
coordination of public and private organizations for business retention research and planning.
Mary has an MS in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Christopher Newport University and a BS in Psychology from Missouri State University.
Tony Garife is the Western Regional Manager for Work Ready Communities at ACT.
In his current role, Tony’s focus is working with counties that are participating in the ACT Work Ready Communities initiative.
Tony has also worked as a State Program Manager at ACT providing job skills assessment systems that helps employers select, hire, train, develop, and retain a high-performance workforce.
In addition, Tony has over 20 years of experience with federal financial aid, assisting students with financing their college education.
Tony has a Bachelor’s Degree from San Diego State University and a MBA from the University of Washington.
