Data Driven Instruction Using Data from ACT Assessments

Join Sherry Reed, ACT Senior Account Executive for South Dakota for an opportunity to learn more about how to use ACT data to improve instruction, curriculum and high school programming.

This FREE workshop will provide so many great ideas!

This session will share strategies for using ACT data from PreACT 8/9, the PreACT and The ACT to drive instruction in classrooms, schools, and school systems. Once made practical, the data is valued. We will include several scenarios for practice with using the data and identifying research based instructional strategies to improve student learning. Highlights include using the data and the integration with ACT tools for just in time supplemental curriculum support and intervention. We will also discuss use of the data to evaluate strengths and weaknesses in local curriculum as well as application to school improvement goals. Join this important session and watch your results improve!

  • Understanding the critical importance of the ACT College and Career Readiness Standards in classroom instruction

CDC guidelines have changed and recommend masks based on the COVID-19 Community Levels. Because ACT events draw attendees from areas with varying COVID-19 Community Levels, ACT strongly encourages all workshop attendees to provide and wear a well-fitting face covering while present at the event, regardless of vaccination status. In addition, ACT will comply with applicable federal, state, and/or local laws, rules, and regulations for maintaining the health and safety of those attending events hosted by ACT. In certain situations, depending on local ordinances or CDC guidance, ACT may require attendees to comply with additional COVID-19 related protocols (such as wearing a face covering or physical distancing) in order to attend the event. ACT will inform attendees of any such requirement in our email communications prior to the event. ACT reserves the right to modify requirements at any time. By registering for the event, you agree to comply with any current or future requirements.

Health Screening
ACT is committed to mitigating the spread of COVID-19. If any of the following circumstances apply, you agree you will not attend the event if:

  1. You tested positive for COVID-19 within 10 days of the event date or are awaiting the results of a COVID-19 test.
  2. You have not completed at least 10 days of isolation (or more if recommended by the CDC or your doctor) after your positive test or first full day after symptoms developed.
  3. You have experienced any symptoms of COVID-19 as identified by the CDC within 10 days of the event date.
  4. You were in close contact with someone who has known symptoms or has tested positive for COVID-19 within 14 days of the event date.
If you test positive for COVID-19 within 14 days after participating in an ACT event, contact your local healthcare provider or state or local health department who is responsible for contact tracing to disclose your participation in the event (provide the event name, date, and location, including the address). If your local health official determines further notification of possible exposure should occur, they may contact ACT at [email protected]. Unrelated email inquiries will not receive a response. 


Event Cancellation
ACT, Inc. (ACT) reserves the right to cancel, reschedule, or convert in-person events to webinars or other digital experiences due to circumstances which would make the event non-viable, at ACT’s sole discretion. Should an event be postponed or converted to a webinar/digital experience, ACT will transfer the registration to the new event/date. ACT is not responsible for any expenses which a participant may have incurred related to the cancellation, postponement, or conversion of an event to a webinar/digital experience.

Liability Waiver

WILL NOT BE LIABLE TO EVENT ATTENDEES FOR SPECIAL, INDIRECT, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR INCIDENTAL LOSSES OR DAMAGES OF ANY KIND OR NATURE WHATSOEVER, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO INJURY OR ILLNESS, LOST PROFITS, LOST RECORDS OR DATA, LOST SAVINGS, LOSS OF USE OF FACILITY OR EQUIPMENT, LOSS BY REASON OF FACILITY SHUT-DOWN OR NON-OPERATIONS OF INCREASED EXPENSE OF OPERATIONS, OR OTHER COSTS, CHARGES, PENALTIES, OR LIQUIDATED DAMAGES, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER ARISING FROM BREACH OF CONTRACT, WARRANTY, TORT, STRICT LIABILITY OR OTHERWISE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH LOSS OR DAMAGE OR IF SUCH LOSS COULD HAVE BEEN REASONABLY FORESEEN. ACT’S LIABILITY FOR DAMAGES UNDER THIS AGREEMENT, INCLUDING ALL SOWS, REGARDLESS OF THE FORM OF ACTION, WILL NOT EXCEED THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF THE EVENT REGISTRATION FEES PAID BY ATTENDEE.

Sherry ReedSherry Reed is an Account Executive at ACT with more than 35 years in education as a classroom teacher, administrator and educational consultant specializing in school improvement and change processes. Sherry focuses on students, educators, and relationships with the families that support schools. She is dedicated to helping educators improve educational outcomes for students.
