What are the improved test security features of the new platform?
Our secure browser solution does not require an install of separate software, but instead does the following:
  • Forces the test to be taken in full screen
  • Pauses the test session when an examinee “loses focus” (tries to open another tab, window, application or return to desktop). This requires examinee re-launch and proctor re-authorization
  • Includes invalid key commands or attempt so navigate away in examinee session history visible to the proctor and ACT
The following Test Security Features are compatible with TAO Secure Browsers with no installations required, including the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox and Safari* (on Mac Only).
Full Screen -There are no browser control buttons (Back, Next, etc.)
Full Screen -Taskbar and desktop are hidden
Full Screen -There is no ability to minimize or maximize windows
Full Screen -There are no menu or program icons
There is no right-click menu
There is no ability to launch or access other applications
There is no access to printing resources
Copy and paste text are not possible
Prohibited key strokes recorded in session history
All attempts to minimize screen or open a new window are recorded in session history
Only a single instance of a test can run at a time
Test exit occurs at test completion, when the time runs out, or at test taker’s decision to end early
Restrict launch of assessment if JavaScript is disabled (in real time)
Restrict assessment launch to supported browsers only

*Internet Explorer is currently not compatible with the Tao Secure Browser requirements. The system will prevent examinees from launching the test in IE or Edge.

**Safari will work as a browser for the examinee test launch, but it is not fully supported by Validus VTC Admin.

See the Updated System Requirements for WorkKeys Online Testing
What’s being done to prevent interruptions as we have now?
The new testing platform will be run through Amazon hosting services (AWS). This will improve delivery capacity and performance.
Is there any impact on RegiSTAR?
There will not be any impact on RegiSTAR access.
What RegiSTAR reports will change and how?
The main updates to RegiSTAR is the addition of the ACT WorkKeys NCRC as a new certificate type. The various reports have mainly been updated to simply include the new certificate data (with one main exception – the Export Certificate Data report).

The other significant change is the addition of certificate PDF creation. For ACT WorkKeys NCRC, RegiSTAR sites can either create individual certificate PDFs or run a report by site and date range to create a file with multiple certificates.
